Personal comeback : managed to even roll under a 29 min 5km. Better than 36 mins which I believe was the initial comeback 5km . Still chugging away at that, keeping positive, the odd waves hits the boat, but on we sail.

Amazing how you get used too the noise, not seen the kids in 7 months, obviously miss them, frees up the weekends through, while the courts run their course. Good to see them doing ok Junior Park run. Good ( court certified ) DNA, no one can take that away. 🙂.. ever.

Anyway running, I started out gentle as the running events came back, back swept the MK marathon on a MTB, was ok but this boy runs.

Second wind running wanted a sweeper for their night trail marathon, after just running around the blocks with the kids during lockdown times, figured... Why not. Was the first sweeping job of this type. Apart from blowing out my pipe hole for most of it, some killer hill on the way out and back which made a little swear word or two, oh and losing the tail runner for a few minutes. ( Sorry RD ) really enjoyed it. Lady at the back was a NHS worker through the COVID, kept saying sorry for her pace. Seeing the service she has given the country over them past 18 months it was a honour to bring her home in one piece, we even got the story inline for losing each other incase the race director asked to many questions. 🤭

Legs where some what stiff the next day / week.

Next came a lazy water bottle duty at London landmarks, watched those at the back go though without any sweeper. I don't know why but it really gets to me seeing the back runners being nudged by the tail bikes / cars, without a experienced runner at backend to guide them to the end, a lot of people are nervous enough returning to events at the moment, I really believe having experience at the back is a very positive move for races.

Then on CP duty with Centurion for a few races and then the night time shift with rat race, handing out the bling to the finishing people. Was then moved to a CP station to catch the last few runners and the sweeps go though. Yes was jell. 🙂 But I did have a table of sweet's to munch on by myself at 2am.

Back to tail running for the Lea valley half with Active running, then the Snowdonia half with run4wales, spent most the day with a lovely lady who had done the event a number of times and kept telling about every next hill, enjoyed the views on the way around anyway, she also came with a back story ( you really do hear all the stories at the back ) It was somewhat hilly, but a very beautiful route.

When all that wasn't enough I won weekend tickets to the Runfestrun festival, running with great and the good. Paula and Cram over took me on every run. Managed to keep Chris Evens behind me now and again though, thanks to Ordinance Survey for that.

Then onto penguin duty at London Winter / summer run. What more to say?

Which brings us back to the MK Twinlake 20, first half a did on my feet, second jumped on the bike to help clear up the signs.

Lady at the back was very tough, nothing was going to stop her getting to the end. She was In training for the London Marathon. Can confirm she will get to the end no questions ask, I wish her the very best of luck.

And breath........... Was a while since last post so sorry for the long ramble.

I feel the basics are complete, still got much of the journey to go. Won't admit it is not hard sometimes to get out, Partner joins me now and again on her bike, keeps me going on any down days I find, she doesn't understand that once you have found a 10km route you can not just go randomly running to get to 10km though. 🙂.

So onto the next....... Bristol..... 10km...... Pacer... A little nervous I must admit.... First time back with the flag in this brave new world. Wish me luck. Sweeping is fantastic, but I love the pressure of the ticking clock.
